What is Child Sponsorship?
Sponsoring a child through Central provides education, school uniforms, supplies and food for orphans and semi-orphans (children whose parents cannot take care of them) in our sister congregations of Kibena and Matingajola in Southern Tanzania. This project is a partnership between Central Lutheran Church in Elk River, MN and The Southern Diocese of Tanzania’s Lutheran Church (the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania).
What is the process?
Go to www.clcelkriver.org and select a child to sponsor..OR..fill sign up at Central Lutheran Church. You will receive information how to correspond with and support your child. Bev Johnson and Sharon Ellis are overseeing the sponsorship project at Central.
What does it cost?
Child sponsorship costs as little as 99 cents a day. $30 dollars a month will provide the financial support to educate a child in Southern Tanzania. Financial support will begin January of 2011. Upon signing up you will receive information how to provide your financial support. Representatives from the Southern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania and Pastors and Elders from our sister congregations of Kibena and Matiganjola will oversee the distribution of funds to ensure that your support is providing education for the children.
What is the duration of sponsorship?
One year minimum. Many will choose to sponsor their child through his/her school career (through High School). Any duration is welcome.
