At Central, kids participate in different “milestones” to help them grasp faith in Jesus within their church family. We help kids to take the Sacrament of Communion starting in 5th grade. If your child is older than 5th grade but hasn’t yet participated in First Communion, there is always space for him or her to join the celebration. This series of events happens during the Lent season. In 2018, there are several activities and dates to be aware of to participate in this amazing practice. Read below to get the scoop!
First Communion Orientation will be held Wednesday, February 14, at 6 pm between the 5 pm and 7 pm Ash Wednesday services, and Saturday, February 17 at 9 am. Parents and children are required to attend if planning on receiving Communion this Lenten season.
We celebrate communion in two ways. First, in taking communion with the whole church family. Second, with an incredible Seder Meal. The Seder Meal is a cool way of experiencing the significance of Communion through eating together. It follows the basic Jewish experience that Jesus might have had. Come and learn how Jesus did communion, and what it means to you! This meal is celebrated as one of the activities on March 18, at 12:30 pm.
Communion celebrations for 2018 will be held on Maundy Thursday, March 29, at the 7 pm Worship Service and Sunday, April 15 during all morning worship services.
