D4D, Sponsorship Challenge, Masai XRay Machine and Church Sign

Thank you to those who gave or promised special birthday gifts last Sunday!  As we anticipate coming together for worship this Sunday there are three things I am excited to share with you:

1. Sign up to be part of a D4D (Designed for Discipleship) group!  On the four Sundays in June we are encouraging as many men and women as possible to sign up to be part of the D4D movement in Central.  D4D is an opportunity to come together with 3 to 5 women or men and grow as disciples of Jesus.  A guide will lead each group and for the first year groups will be going through DISCIPLESHIP ESSENTIALS, an excellent Bible Study by Greg Ogden.  D4D groups meet a minimum of two times a month and are rooted in the Word and Prayer!  Can you imagine how helpful it will be in your life to have 3 or 4 other followers of Christ to help you in your journey?

2. This Sunday every worshipper will receive an insert with pictures of 37 graduating seniors; one picture from their childhood and one picture from their senior year. I hope many of you will use this picture insert as a tool to pray for the each of Central's graduating seniors.  Pray that each young woman and man will freshly invite Jesus into their future as we honor them and pray for them!

3. THANK YOU to many who gave special birthday gifts to Central last Sunday as we celebrated Pentecost, the birthday of the Church.  If you have not yet given a special gift I encourage you to consider one of three opportunities;

• SPONSORSHIP CHALLENGE - A member wants to offer a challenge to all of our members.  He will match every dollar sponsored up to $4,500 per year.  Ideally, he would like a member to sponsor ½ a child ($15) and he would pick match the other half.  He feels this would then make the sponsorship more financially accessible to more people.  Of course, he would also match a full scholarship.  $9,000 ($4,500 plus $4,500 match) would take care of 25 children at $30 per month  ! !   This challenge will end on June 30.  PRAISE THE LORD for this act of generosity!  If 50 people came on board to give $15.00 a month 25 more orphans would be sponsored in Kibena and Matiganjola.  Let's do it!
• NEW CHURCH SIGN - Presently over $19,000 has been given and promised to the NEW DIGITAL CHURCH SIGN on School Street.  We still need a few thousand more dollars as we do not want to build the sign until all the money has been given or promised. Let's do it!
• X RAY MACHINE for the Masai people in Tanzania.  We are seeking to raise $10,000 to help with the expenses of an X RAY machine for the work of Dr. Steve Friberg in Tanzania.  Last January many of us were blessed by the witness of Dr. Steve and Bethany Friberg. In the last four years over 25 members of Central have had the opportunity to visit the Fribergs and be blessed by their work and witness in Kitumbene, Tanzania. This is such a great opportunity to provide tangible help to our brothers and sisters in Tanzania. Let's do it!

It is such a blessing to give! And as we give we find our heart following with prayers, love and compassion for those beyond our walls - be they people driving on School Street or way on the other side of the world in Tanzania!
