A new year and new resolutions. Some of us make them and some don't - either way it is always good to do a little "life assessment" to see if things are on the right track. Maybe it's your physical health, maybe a little therapy is in order - how are you and God doing? The beginning of the year is a great time to kick off a Bible reading plan to work your way through it in a year. Many resources are available to help you do that successfully. How's your prayer time working? Are you feeling confident in that area - or maybe you would like some guidance? I focus my attention on these two areas to you as parents - but ultimately my hope is that you do these very publicly so that your children see this as an everyday part of your life. This is a HUGE step in what you can be doing to have them be on a solid track with their faith development. Read the Bible together - shorter stories for younger children and the full scripture with older children. Elementary aged children should be reading every day - have them incorporate this into their required reading time. Praying out loud for them and with them will only help them grasp how they can do the same. Create goals together for a great 2013!!

HomeFront Fun – Friday, January 18
All families with children ages birth to 5th grade (older siblings are welcome too!) are invited to join us on Friday, January 18 from 5:30-7:30 pm at CLC. We’ll be exploring the environment of Storytelling. This is an opportunity for parents to come and be equipped and encouraged to be the primary faith builders in the lives of their children. We’ll start off with some dinner and then move on to stations and various hands-on activities that will support the spiritual formation of your children. So we have enough food, please RSVP to Kristen Norby at

Third Grade Bible Classes and Celebration
Third Grade Bible Classes will be held on Thursday, January 10, 17, 24, & 31 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Third graders and their parents are invited to participate in this introductory Bible class. Are your children older than third grade but missed the class? We’d love to have you join us. Following the class, children receive their bibles from their parents at a special presentation during the worship services on Sunday, February 10, followed by a family meal and celebration. A mailing with registration forms and information went out the last week of December. Be sure to contact us if you don't receive it.
Current Environment: Storytelling The power of The Big God Story impacts our lives by giving us an accurate and awe-inspiring perspective of how God has been moving throughout history. It is the story of redemption, salvation, and hope and tells how I have been grafted into it by grace. It further compels us to see how God is using every person's life and is creating a unique story that deserves to be told for God's glory.
"God has a big story and I can be part of it!"

Tru this Week: Sunday, January 6
Every week we distribute the HomeFront Weekly at Children’s Chapel. These weeklies are a tool for you as parents to use to prepare your child for the story they will hear on Sunday. Our desire is for you as parents to take time with your children to introduce the story to them prior to coming to learning time on Sunday. See the links below if your child was absent last week!
The TruWonder (Preschool-Kindergartners) theme for this week is "Remember & Celebrate! Festival of First Fruits; Remembering and Celebrating God as Trustworthy". We'll be spending our time reflecting back on the last five lessons.

Children & Family Ministry Volunteer Needs
Children's Chapel 11:00 Service: Is in need of adult leaders to help with both the preschool-K group and the 1st-5th graders. We need help sharing the story, working with a small group of kids, and help supervising kids to keep them engaged in the lesson. Please consider serving once a month!
Blessings on your week!
